Job description
We are supporting a highly automated biopharmaceutical manufacturing site looking for a
**Senior Automation Engineer**
to support automation across both
**Upstream and Downstream Drug Substance Manufacturing**
. The role covers automation design, commissioning, qualification, troubleshooting and lifecycle support across GMP production systems, clean utilities and manufacturing platforms.
**Responsibilities**
- Support automation across
**USP and DSP manufacturing areas**
.
- Coordinate with automation vendors and system integrators.
- Support design, configuration, commissioning, qualification and handover activities.
- Provide automation support for
**upstream equipment**
and
**downstream systems**
.
- Support commissioning and qualification of
**WFI, clean utilities and EMS/SCADA systems**
.
- Support
**FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ and PQ**
activities.
- Ensure systems comply with
**cGMP, validation, data integrity and alarm management**
requirements.
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Validation, IT/OT and Process Development.
- Support
**change control, deviations, CAPAs and automation lifecycle management**
.
- Support integration with
**AVEVA PI Historian, MES and wider manufacturing systems**
.
**Requirements**
- Strong automation experience within
**pharma, biotech, biologics, CDMO or GMP manufacturing**
.
- Experience supporting
**Upstream and Downstream Drug Substance manufacturing**
.
- Strong hands-on experience with
**Emerson DeltaV**
, plus
**Siemens PLC / SCADA**
systems.
- Good understanding of automated bioprocessing, batch control and GMP process automation.
- Practical knowledge of
**fed-batch biologics manufacturing**
.
- Experience with commissioning, qualification, validation and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of
**GMP documentation, data integrity, change control, deviations and CAPAs**
.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent English required; German is advantageous.
